Landscape masterplan concept, Vatutinki, New Moscow
In 2016 the practice was asked to develop a strategy for the design of all landscape and public realm areas for the new district of Vatutinki in south west Moscow.
The district will have a population of over 50,000 people and covers an area of 150 hectares.
A masterplan has been approved by the city authorities and a number of roads and residential buildings are already constructed.
However, no thought was given to the spaces between – public realm, hard and soft landscaping.
The concept is for a general approach to all main spaces – central boulevard, main cross streets, side streets and adjacent landscaped areas. It involves proposals for planting, focal points, bus stops and street amenities.
This concept has been developed in collaboration with Martha Schwartz & Partners.
